This year’s John Reid Memorial Tournament was an overwhelming success and it was a pleasure to be involved in this capacity as a North Zone representative. With teams such as Dallas, Anaheim, LA, and Colorado, a team headlined by a coaching staff with both Joe Sakic and Adam Foote, the tournament had a level of prestige that I hope all the officials enjoyed being a part of. All but one game of the tournament was supervised; this resulted in 41 supervised games and a total of 123 supervisions from 15 different supervisors.

The Edmonton Oil Kings would like to invite you out to our inaugural Referee Night on Wednesday February 25th vs. the Red Deer Rebels.

We need to clarify rule 9.6a. A player/coach shall be assessed a match penalty for threatening an official. PLEASE NOTE: You must feel that the threat is genuine and that you are in imminent harm. If it applies please assess a game misconduct or gross misconduct if those are more applicable. If you require any further clarification please contact Colin Hackett by phone at 780 271-5296 or email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
