The Female Officiating Program will continue to support the grassroots program initiatives and ensure that all female officials are encouraged to develop to their personal potential. The formation of the Northzone Female Committee has brought together experienced individuals that are dedicated to exploring new ways to provide development opportunities and challenges for our officials to improve their skills and achieve success.

Alberta has some of the best female hockey in the country. The caliber of hockey is increasing. The Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League (AMMFHL), Alberta Major Bantam Female Hockey League (AMBFHL), ACAC and CIS leagues will again provide our officials with a high level of competition. With CIS Nationals being hosted in Edmonton, this creates an opportunity for our elite to be selected for this prestigious tournament. The newly formed Continental Womens Hockey League will provide an opportunity for qualified officials to work the 4-man system in this semi-professional league.

The Northzone will be hosting a North Development Camp in Edmonton, January 7, 2012 in cooperation with the EGHA, the University of Alberta Pandas, The Grant McEwen Griffins and the NAIT Ooks. This is an exciting opportunity for all officials from across the province.

We will continue to partner with our rural minor hockey programs to develop those female officials within their programs. We have promoted a program whereby we have invited officials from outside of Edmonton, into Edmonton to work higher levels of hockey they wouldn't normally be exposed to. These officials are also exposed to opportunities like the Macs, the Alberta Winter Games, various provincial championships and other exciting assignments.

The 2011/2012 season is lining up to be another terrific season. If you want to get involved in officiating our great game, please contact Arron Best by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
