The North Zone Referees' Committee continues to support female hockey, and our female program officials.  One executive member represents this very important program.  The goals of this program are threefold:

• Develop female officials (of all ages) through mentorship, supervision and giving them opportunities in higher calibers of female hockey.
• Provide the best officials for female hockey.
• Try to advocate for females in the Male program giving them further opportunities to develop their skills.

Karen Kost is the Female Program Coordinator and welcomes feedback as to how the program is working well and how it could be improved.  She can be contacted by e-mail.

This season, a committee has been struck to develop officials at all levels of female hockey.  Karen Kost will use the experience and knowledge of the committee to work with each of the leagues to develop partnerships in the promotion of the game and create development opportunities for our officials.

This is an exciting time for female hockey and those officials working the female program.  Development of our officials is first and foremost.  There is tremendous opportunity and growth available to all officials as the hockey in our province is some of the best in the nation.

This Committee oversees and assigns officials working in the following leagues:

• WWHL (Professional Women's Hockey League - Edmonton Chimos)
• CIS (U of A Pandas)
• ACAC (Grant MacEwan Griffins, NAIT Ooks)
• NAFHA (Northern Alberta Female Hockey Association)
